Thanks for your Resilience and Generosity!

Thanks for your Resilience and Generosity!

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit in March of 2020, the District Finance Committee gathered to discuss how to modify the district apportionments in light of the financial challenges our churches were facing while still offering vital ministry as a District. The decision was made to move the total 2020 District Apportionments from $173,000 to $143,000. We are pleased to report that through your continued commitment and generosity the Lynchburg District local churches have together paid 45.08% of the $143,000 total which compares favorably to where we were, percentage wise, at this point last year.  In other words, due to your resilience and faithfulness, our financial life is steady as we continue to navigate these new waters as brothers and sisters in Christ. Thanks be to God!

Four Things:

As we continue to move through this pandemic, and as cases continue to rise in Central Virginia, it will be important to keep four areas of protective measures in place to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus:

  • Face coverings (that cover the nose and mouth)
  • Social distancing (six feet apart or more with no touching)
  • Hygiene (washing hands, cleaning high touch surfaces)
  • Health screening for COVID-19 only (protects everyone)

As Bishop Lewis mentioned in her recent video, this is a four tiered approach
using the most effective measures we know.

Thank you for your attentiveness to helping to project us all as we move forward in ministry together.

Grace and peace,

Rev. Scott Davis, Superintendent
